The Management Asbestos Survey replaces the old type 1 and type 2 asbestos survey. This is the survey that you will need in order to comply with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 as the old type 1 and type 2 asbestos surveys no longer exist. The purpose of a management survey is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect Asbestos Containing Materials, (ACMs) in the building which could be damaged during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to assess their condition. A management survey includes an assessment of the condition of the various ACMs and their ability to release fibres into the air if they are disturbed in some way. The material assessment will give a good initial guide to the priority for managing the ACMs. The survey will involve sampling and analysis to prove or disprove the presence of asbestos. However, management surveys can also involve presuming the presence of asbestos within the building.
